I’m continuing with scenes from the Promenade Plantée, Paris’ elevated linear park. Though admittedly, this doesn’t look very park-like — it looks like a regular pedestrian bridge. Like the High Line in New York City, the park design changes depending on the section, no doubt adding variety.
More than the park, however, I was attracted by this tall and slender structure, which I assume is a church. The massing creates a balanced composition with the apartment and surrounding buildings.
New York’s linear park features sight lines to skyscrapers. Paris counters with slender churches. One exudes charm while the other — power.
