Day two in Paris, well rested, we hit the metro early. I saw this cute bakery in an underground shopping area connected to the metro. These kinds of underground retail remind me of Japan, though this one in Paris wasn’t as extensive as in Tokyo.
Google Translate indicates that La Mie Câline means The Cuddly Crumb, and research reveals an extensive chain throughout France. In addition to pastries and bread, their menu extends to sandwiches and salads. We didn’t eat there, but I couldn’t resist a street photograph admiring its cheerful branding.
Paris and perhaps the rest of France has a sense of style in fashion and architecture, but I also saw it in the branding of stores and goods. In addition to my interest in photography, I enjoy good graphic design and packaging. I saw these small visual design treats throughout my trip, which added another level of enjoyment beyond the obvious tourist observations.
