Forum Shops, Caesars Palace – Las Vegas, Nevada

Happy Thanksgiving! I have no pictures of turkeys or other holiday foods today. I’m continuing my Las Vegas coverage as we power through the holidays.

What happens when you cross a Roman temple with a shopping mall? You get the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The architecture is wacky and over-the-top, but I love it for photography. I like shooting there at night when everything is aglow and there are fewer people.

I had my 16mm f2.8 lens on my Fujifilm X-S10, which gives a 24mm equivalent view. It is slightly wider than my previous visit, allowing me to capture more detail. I headed directly to the third floor to start my photography.

I like the top floor since I’m closer to the ceiling details and the massive sculptures. The blue glow out the central window is not because of blue hour. It’s courtesy of the neon across the street from the Harrah’s Hotel.

Beyond the supersized faux Roman architectural details, there is a unique element. Notice the curved escalators? You don’t see those very often.

After a few more shots, I made this final picture from the ground floor looking up.

The 24mm equivalent did an admirable job documenting. However, a super-wide lens might be even more entertaining. Perhaps something for a future trip.
