Issue 55 of my fabulous photography magazine is hot off the digital presses (via email). In this month’s issue, I shoot Austin Fashion Week with a new fantastic lens, high-end shopping, and urban glitter at night, and yes, I bought two more lenses and more. I have one more picture from the pedestrian bridge, looking south on Las Vegas Blvd. As you can see, not all hotels are fanciful, and some are downright boring. The Cromwell is a rectangular box, as well as the hotel next to it that is now being renovated.
The faux Eiffel Tower is the most visually attractive structure. Not seen on the right are the Ceasars Place complex and the Bellagio. Further down the tall tower is The Cosmopolitan, but none of the stylish modern buildings in City Center are visible. However, the faint beam of light behind The Cosmopolitan is from the Luxor Pyramid.
Using in-body image stabilization, I managed a 1/3 second shutter speed to create motion blur, adding dynamism and visual interest. While packed with hotels, Las Vegas doesn’t have the building density of a large city, though it does have many photo-worthy details, inside and out.
