Sometimes, it’s hard to tell how large an object is in landscape photography. Unlike urban landscapes that may hint at size via doors and windows, you can’t always tell how large a pile of rocks may be.
Adding people is an excellent way to add a sense of scale to a landscape. That’s what I did here at Grand Canyon West. Notice a couple of people in the top left corner. I purposely included them.
While you can’t directly tell how far the distant canyon may be, the color change creates depth, which implies a great distance. Today’s picture is the last from Guano Point. We then rode the van to our next stop at Grand Canyon West.
