I found a fitting image for the last post in my Las Vegas 2023 series: an aerial view of the Las Vegas Strip. As you can see, I was perfectly positioned on the right side of the plane, by the window, to take this shot.
I included the engine and wing as a foreground element, which is needed because the strip doesn’t look very impressive with this framing. The hotels aren’t skyscrapers and lack presence; the vast tracts of empty land aren’t visually attractive. Still, we get an excellent overview of the structures I documented for six days in context with the distant mountains.
I should’ve used the Fujifilm GFX 50S II instead of the Fujifilm X-S10. The GFX’s 51MP resolution would’ve allowed me to crop extensively and optionally “zoom into” the hotels. However, I’m pleased that having the X-S10 ready enabled a final Las Vegas image.
