Cindy, Drink and Click Portrait – Austin, Texas

I’ve featured Cindy several times in my Drink and Click portraits, but this differs. Instead of my usual half-body up close, I wanted to include the environment and tell a story.

I shot this in March of last year at Tweedy’s Bar, a newish establishment that used to be part of the larger Spiderhouse. I saw this photo booth and wanted to incorporate it into the picture. With a full-length portrait in a dark area with some mystery, it’s not your typical portrait.

Using the Fujifilm X-S10 with the Fuji 50mm f1.0, I created a shallow depth of field. Shortly after this event, I switched to the Sony A7C and used it at subsequent Drink and Clicks. This picture may be the last of the Fujifilm portraits. The A7C’s superior face and eye detection makes people photography easier.
