I took my wife to the airport last summer and grabbed my Sony A7C on the way out. I had the 24mm f2.8 attached, which makes a go-anywhere compact setup.
This was the scene at 4 am, surprisingly active for departures from the 2nd floor of ABIA (Austin Bergstrom International Airport). Austin is no longer a sleepy city; the airport is bursting at its seams. There are big plans for a significant expansion here over the next decade.
Pictures like these are nothing special, but I still like them. It documents the mundane everyday world most ignore as the blue glow of modernity continues to expand in Austin. I also took snapshots of my wife, the real purpose of bringing the camera. But it never hurts to throw in some observational photography.
I’m also using this airport image as a segue back to my European trip, which I paused on October 29th. We will pick up the story on my third day in Paris when I head to Switzerland for a few days.
