As a photographer, I’ve come to appreciate contrasts. Here, we have a modern, sleek car contrasting historic architecture. The contrast would’ve been even more extreme with something like the Tesla Cybertruck. An Audi wagon is very European and popular in the old world, though not so much in America, where we like larger, chunkier SUVs.
I’ve featured this building previously in the sixth picture of this Photo Essay of Chur. Unlike the previous photo, today, this handsome ornate structure takes centerstage.
When I was younger, I was a minimalist who loved the functional Bauhaus style. As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate the historic and ornate. There’s a lot more character, and the blandness and cheapness of modern buildings suck the joy out of urban life. Sometimes, life should be celebrated with flourishes.
