I’m still at Cafe Blanc, and since I showed you the exterior and the food I ordered, it made sense to show you what it looks like inside. My wife and I ate outside, but I wandered in to see what it looked like.
After the exterior met my expectations of a Paris Cafe, I’m happy to report that the interior also looks wonderfully cafe-like, the way I had imagined. The timeless look is reassuring, thanks to the marble detailing, wooden trim, and tin ceiling.
You might see places like this in old US cities like Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, but certainly not Austin. Almost everything in Austin is new, and anything historic has been swept away or retrofitted. That’s probably true for most sunbelt cities in the southern part of America. I wonder if new construction in France is any better.
