Montmartre Doors – Paris, France

I imagine that in a place like Paris, you can have a book or an entire website dedicated to just doors. The city has enough architectural depth and history to expect uniqueness instead of cookie-cutter. Mercifully, I’m featuring just a single picture of doors as part of the details I found in the Montmartre neighborhood.

These doors have the symmetry I like and the right amount of ornamentation. They’re not too over the top in decorations but have enough not to be boring. Overlayed are the years of alterations and wear that add character — the haphazard wires around the frame and sufficiently worn lower half.

I later discovered the simple A.P.C. sign I recognized on the top right. Years ago, I bought one pair of A.P.C. jeans made of raw Japanese denim at a price that matched (nearly $200). While I still own them, I’ve gravitated to cool and comfortable performance fabrics, some of which are from Costco for just $17. I much prefer the pants from Costco.
