Montmartre View – Paris, France

You climb the steps or glide your way up via a Montmartre funicular, and you’re rewarded with this view of Paris. I read in the guidebooks about this Montmartre view, which is indeed wonderful — not in a powerful New York City skyline kind of way, but as a charming but grand city view.

There is this odd structure, however, that draws my eye. On this particular day, the clouds formed a dark horizontal shadow that further highlighted this industrial complex. Next to the belching smokestacks is an even stranger, angular tower. It looks like the perfect control center for Darth Vader.

I tried to find out what this was but with no luck. Maybe someone can tell me. It’s both strange and disturbing, marring the otherwise pleasant Paris cityscape.
