I blogged about a performance at the Opéra Garnier during part one of my Paris coverage back in October last year. No, I didn’t see a performance inside this historic opera house. It was a photograph of a street performance in front of this magnificent structure.
While I may not have watched a performance in the building, we finally get to see the interior over the next several days. I teased this in my original post about this most remarkable building. While I’m generally a minimalist and eschew overly ornate structures, I respect what they’ve done here. If you’re going to go over the top with details, embrace it to the max. You’ll see what I’m talking about soon enough.
This may look like a straightforward snapshot of a building, but it’s more involved than that and something that I find moderately challenging. I was able to shoot a clean, traffic-free picture in the middle of the day. But more importantly, I did my best to center, correct the perspective, and ensure the building was parallel to the camera. Even a slight deviation, and it doesn’t look quite right. It’s too bad I can’t show you it at full resolution on a 5K monitor.

Beautiful! Something I missed when I was in Paris. So glad you were able to get those interior shots.
Thank you, nowandthenadays. Look for more posts from the inside of Opéra Garnier.
