After seeing the Eiffel Tower in our sites right off the metro station, it took about 15 minutes to get this close. That required crossing a bridge and walking along the bank of the Seine River going southwest.
Blue hour was approaching, and the tower was lit up. And, just like magic, it started to sparkle. This added another level of specialness to an already magnificent site. I still wasn’t in the optimal position, but I stopped to capture the effect as best I could.
The sparkling lights happen every hour and last around 5 minutes, which I didn’t know at the time — we were just lucky. We must have stayed less than an hour because I didn’t see it sparkle again.
