The Monumental Pont Alexandre III – Paris, France

I featured this bridge, Pont Alexandre III, yesterday in a black-and-white, street photography-ish image complete with telephoto compression. I concentrated on the elaborate and repeating Art Nouveau lamps. Today, I have a few more pictures of this magnificent bridge.

In the first picture, we are looking south, where you can see the two sculpture towers on the west side. In the background, we have Hôtel des Invalides and its giant dome, the largest in Paris. At 95mm equivalent, we get some compression between the three primary elements.

I’ve crossed the river to the southern side, now looking roughly north. Hidden within the ornamental clutter of the bridge are the glass domes of the Grand Palais. I didn’t make a closeup of the Grand Palais, distracted most likely by all the surrounding architectural wonders — a structure to explore in a future visit.

Finally, at a 117mm equivalent, we get some bridge compression, as seen from the exterior of the structure. The elaborate ornamentation on the bridge is at its halfway point. Anchoring the right is the sculpture tower on the northeast side.
