I’m certain, though not 100%, that this was a tapestry hung on the wall instead of a painting. The piece’s borders look rug-like. However, the resolution of my photograph at 24MP wasn’t sufficient to confirm a woven texture.

Either way, it’s an impressively large piece with fantastic details. You can ascertain its scale from the two gentlemen onlookers. It looks large enough to work in the Texas McMansions I occasionally see here in Austin.

Without the people in the frame, the picture would be rather dull and would document but not tell a story. If I had a choice, I would strive to tell a story with my photographs (and prose).
