I saw this on the street and had to snap a few pictures. It seemed very European and the kind of vehicle that would not be sold in the U.S. I knew it was a Citroen, a French car company, from the logo — that’s about it. A Google search revealed that it’s called the Ami.
This is a true city car, and with a top speed of 28 mph, it’s not adequate for the highway. However, with bumper-to-bumper traffic, you never know. This is an EV with a 47-mile range, more than enough for the city streets, and it might be a real advantage when maneuvering around traffic and parking in tight spots.
The woman in the car is probably used to people reacting to her vehicle. You can see her smiling as I snapped this picture.
The car costs a modest 7,400 Euro, roughly $8,000. Considerable engineering went into keeping the costs low, including identical front and back panels. The YouTube video below explains the details and provides an informal review.
