During our short trip, we hit most of the top tourist spots in Paris, but you might have noticed one famous location we haven’t visited until now — Notre-Dame Cathedral. This is how the cathedral looked on October 1, 2022.
We knew Notre-Dame was still under reconstruction when we visited, so we left it until the last day. We took a quick walk-by to take a look and take a few snaps. The front elevation looked complete, but there was much work being done on the rear. As you may know, a massive fire extensively damaged the structure on April 15, 2019. I was surprised by the extent of the remaining work after three years.
However, the good news is that it’s set to reopen on December 7, 2024, just a couple of days after this post. My coverage of Notre-Dame at this time was purely by accident. I discovered the opening day as I researched this post. Notre-Dame will certainly be on the priority list if and when we return to Paris.
