Rock Rose is the entertainment district within The Domain shopping center, the faux downtown in North Austin. It does a good job of simulating an actual city with stores, restaurants, and apartments in a dense area. My family and I walked the length of Rock Rose Avenue to get some light exercise, and I also snapped businesses along the way.
I originally planned to post in color; the neon and lights of these bars and restaurants created some visual interest. However, converting to black and white produced more mystery, which ultimately won me out.
I shot all pictures at a 24mm equivalent at 1/8th second, which allowed me to use the base ISO 200. This ensured the highest possible picture quality, even at night. I usually test new cameras by shooting the city in the evening, which is a big part of my photography.
