Reliving Childhoods

DQ Restaurant - Austin, Texas

DQ Restaurant – Austin, Texas

We ate dinner at Bufalina Due, a fantastic Neapolitan Pizza Restaurant, which I blogged about yesterday. We then headed to The Domain to do some quick shopping, passing by the old DQ on Burnet Road. We reminisced about how we took our sons there after soccer games when they were kids, which was over fifteen years ago.

Walking around Rock Rose Avenue at The Domain, I snapped pictures, and we ended up in a long line at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream. Ditching the line after 10 minutes with no movement, we were drawn to relive DQ with their chocolate sundaes and Blizzards.

Somewhere along the way, Dairy Queen was shortened to DQ, sporting a bright and modern graphical exterior. On the bottom left is a hint of the blue Subaru Impreza, which my older son still drives. I blogged about the purchase back in 2017.

DQ was not nearly as fancy as Jeni’s and, of course, significantly less expensive. However, it still tasted great, and the food and interior rekindled fond memories of when our kids were young and innocent.
