There’s an old but solid wood pedestrian bridge that crosses Shoal Creek. It looks out of place in the increasingly modern and slick downtown condo district. Looking on Google Maps, I didn’t know the bridge is considered part of the Shoal Creek Trail, which meanders throughout this area. I used it to cross into the downtown core.
The first building on the left is the 360 Condos, once the tallest residential tower in Texas and the tallest building in Austin during the previous boom around 2007. It currently ranks as the fifth tallest, but with all the new towers coming on line, its height status continues to diminish.
Polvos Mexican Restaurant is located on the bottom floor of the 360 Condos, and this colorful space is their covered outdoor eating area. The festive spot piqued my curiosity as I walked by. I zoomed into a 57mm equivalent of the Leica D-Lux 8 and snapped a picture. It came out better than expected, given its slow 1/8-second shutter speed and dim conditions.
At ISO 800, I lifted the shadows slightly without introducing much noise. I like the subtle glow on the customers’ faces as they sat at their tables and looked at their devices.
