Continuing east on 3rd Street, I came upon a building I know well and one I have fond memories of. I blogged about this building before, and a search revealed it was back in 2017. Two thoughts came to mind. One, I can’t believe it’s been nearly eight years. That time has passed in the blink of an eye. Second, the lobby looks identical except for some new furniture.
In 2017, I happily shot Olympus without the wild gear changes I’ve made in the last several years. The pictures from then look great. Ironically, I shot the same building again with another Micro 4/3 camera, the Leica D-Lux 8.
I like to think that my architectural photography skills have improved since then, but that’s unclear. I believe this picture is framed better, and I now perspective correct, so there’s a more precise and accurate representation. My colors are more realistic, too, which is another way to say they are duller.
After comparing my processing to the pictures from eight years ago, I amped up my colors. I also warmed up the image to better match the more dynamic look, though with a bit more contrast.
A year after I made my blog post in 2018, an architectural lighting firm contacted me from New York and inquired about the pictures of the Colorado Tower. They did the lighting for it and wanted to license my photographs. I even went downtown and shot additional images to offer them more choices.
