Is this an urban landscape or a street photograph? Maybe a little of both. Though there’s no exact definition of a street photograph, I like to see candid people in the picture to consider it such. Here, we see a group at the corner of 4th and Lavaca Streets.
We are in the heart of the warehouse district, but the area’s original meaning is nearly lost after all the development. Many of the former warehouses have been torn down and replaced with gleaming glass skyscrapers.
A few of the low-slung brick structures you see here are what remains of the warehouses, now turned into coffee houses and restaurants. It was a good trade. I don’t recall any historically significant buildings lost to development. However, it’s nice that these brick buildings exist on 4th if only to give variety to the architecture.
