I was walking down Congress Avenue, mostly looking at architecture, when the red neon and matching red furniture stopped me. It was good to see that Mort Subite, a Belgian Beer Bar, was still in business.
Back in 2018, I had a long, fun night of beer, conversation, and photography with my friend Jim. I even made five blog posts about that outing, including two portraits shot with the Olympus PEN-F. Incidentally, despite my recent Sony and Leica gear changes, I still own the Olympus PEN-F, one of my favorite cameras.
Ironically, I’m shooting with a Micro 4/3 camera again, actually a cropped version. This means the Leica D-Lux 8’s sensor is a bit smaller than the standard Micro 4/3. The big difference is that the Olympus Micro 4/3 was my primary camera seven years ago. Now, the D-Lux is my smaller, everyday carry device. I have full-frame and larger cameras for my serious shoots.
I was also shooting with another camera that night alongside the D-Lux 8, equipped with a specialty lens, creating a very different rendering. I took pictures of several scenes with both cameras to show the difference. I’ll feature that comparison soon on my free photography magazine.
