Texas History Museum – Austin, Texas

When I was walking downtown, I was in test mode with my new Leica D-Lux 8. The compact camera has proven its worth and its ability to make photos even under dark conditions—it passed with flying colors. Now, I’m just enjoying the camera both for EDC (Every Day Carry) and strolls with a lightweight device. I’m starting another series exploring a different part of Austin.

We start the coverage with a look at the Texas History Museum from the side, which is decidedly atypical. The raised planters on the left form leading lines to the round rotunda entrance. The buildings in the background are a bigger deal than they might seem—something that I’ll discuss in tomorrow’s post.

Just left of center, a giant star sculpture, slightly camouflaged but still visible, is a focal point of the museum and a symbol of Texas.
