Modern House - Mountain Village, Colorado

Modern House – Mountain Village, Colorado

When we were in Mountain Village, we stayed on the top floor of a nice three-story townhouse. It was contemporary and rustic, fitting into the Colorado style. However, we saw even grander accommodations at the front of the subdivision, each on its generous parcel of land overlooking the spectacular views. Here’s one example.

This house and many other equally spectacular abodes shared a modern style that combined well with the rugged mountains. The colors and materials blended well, but the simple, dramatic, angular architecture echoes the surrounding mountains. Understandably, many have generous windows to take in the view.

The modern architecture makes sense in this context. Imagine seeing a red brick colonial out here? It would look ridiculously out of place. On the other hand, a house like this in Boston or Philadelphia also wouldn’t work either.
