Telluride, Colorado, was founded in 1878 as a silver and gold mining town. The last mine closed in 1978. Now, Telluride is an upscale city with tourism and skiing as its primary sources of income. The residential areas surround the compact historic core.
I’ve seen a mix of housing. Some are small historic structures, while many are of the modern variety. The town is surprisingly dense, and most houses are built on compact lots. Despite its modest population of 2,600, the city has an urban feeling due to its density and walkable streets.
The nearby Mountain Village features larger houses with acreage. Though a separate city, Mountain Village looks more like a traditional suburb.
