As I’ve detailed in the last few posts, Telluride has a cute and historic downtown and upscale housing. However, it’s the surrounding nature that distinguishes the city. It’s surrounded by towering snow-covered peaks and ample, lush vegetation.
While the city has a compact urban feeling, steps away are bits of nature with only subtle man-made cues. There’s also a river that runs through it. I snapped the first photo off a bridge in downtown. Besides a mostly hidden structure on the right beyond the tree with the yellow leaves, it looks like a pristine natural scene.
This is the perfect place for my type of fair-weather landscape photography. I’m not dedicated enough to brave the elements, camp in some remote wilderness, and wait endless hours or days for that perfect shot. I’m perfectly happy with a drive-by or walk-by capture. And this scenic view is not in a contained area. I quickly snapped two more pictures on a walk on the pathway along the river.
