Roadside View – Telluride, Colorado

If you’ve followed my work for a while, you know that I don’t shoot landscapes often. My usual photographic subjects are urban, so you can see many cityscapes, street, and travel photography. This is partially because of interest but also availability. I live near Austin, so downtown buildings and street photography are comparably easy to access.

It would be a different story if I lived in Colorado, where beautiful landscapes are plentiful. 2021 was my first visit to the mountains of Colorado, and I was floored. The area was remarkably scenic. Everywhere I turned revealed photo-worthy images.

I shot this picture on the drive between Mountain Village and Telluride. The trip took about 20 minutes, and I was able to pull off Route 145 safely to take this picture with the Fujifilm GFX 50R. Landscape photography in Colorado is limited more by available and convenient parking than by visual availability.
