Telluride at Three Focal Lengths

View from the Mountain – Telluride, Colorado

I got a nice view of distant mountains when I hiked to the top from Mountain Village. A picture that I showed you yesterday. A more fun subject might be the view of Telluride, Colorado. I shot with my Fuji 55-200mm, giving an 82.5mm to 300mm equivalent view. We get to see the entire Zoom range today with these three pictures.

The first image is at the maximum 300mm equivalent. I aimed for the middle of downtown, and roughly in the middle, you can see the New Sheridan Hotel, which I talked about a couple weeks ago.

I like the mix of colors and textures; this zoomed-in view is my favorite. It looks like a scene out of the Sim City game. You can really notice the compact development that I talked about in an earlier post. Telluride is a small city but dense and walkable.

This second view is at 142.5mm equivalent. A zoomed-out picture like this doesn’t offer much photographic interest; however, it provides some context.

In this last photograph, I’m at the widest 82.5mm equivalent. It doesn’t look very different from the previous view, but it gives you an idea of the range of the Fuji lens I used. The lens was versatile and perfect for my trip to Colorado, where I shot daytime landscape images.
