Uniqlo Fisheye, Ala Moana – Honolulu, Hawaii

I’ve taken pictures often at this Uniqlo, a Japanese fast-casual clothing store. I’m surprised I haven’t posted any images from here unless I mislabeled the entry. However, I have featured a Uniqlo from Paris. This one at the Ala Moana mall is much larger and more architecturally impressive. It has some Apple Store vibes but with a lot more clutter.

There are no Uniqlos yet in Austin, although they recently opened stores elsewhere in Texas, such as in Houston and Dallas. Perhaps we aren’t big enough. For this reason, visiting a Uniqlo store when we visit Hawaii is a treat. Their clothing isn’t unique, but they execute everyday basics effectively.

The Ala Moana store is on three levels across two floors. I’m at the top level looking down, and the fisheye captures all the levels. The stainless details and mirrors make this look futuristic, but not in an overbearing 1970s kind of way. The wood flooring adds moderation to the modern interior. On the back wall, a red LED-lit crawl of products reminds me of a stock ticker.
