Downtown Honolulu doesn’t have a massive skyline. Still, it’s enough to create an image like this with a decent concentration of skyscrapers. Instead of the typical skyline picture from afar, the fisheye creates an entirely different perspective. It might be fun to do this in multiple cities.
When shooting with a fisheye during the day, you can’t get away from the sun, so you have to embrace the effect along with the flare. The lens controls the flare well, and it adds just the right amount of character.
I positioned the sun atop the street light purely by accident. It won’t trick anyone into thinking it’s not the sun, but it has a good effect.
