Building with Tree – Taylor, Texas

I’m on 4th Street right off Main Street in downtown Taylor, Texas. You can just make out the Howard Theater on the left, which I mentioned a couple of days ago. Although this is the side of the building (the front faces Main Street), there is a clean and attractive facade. These are the kind of small details you rarely see in modern, value-driven construction, where the sides are often blank walls.

While the building is attractive enough, it won’t be much of a picture without the tree. It creates balance and contrast with the architecture and also visually anchors the corner.

It’s a nice-looking tree, too. One that has presence without the clutter of unwieldily branches. It doesn’t overshadow the building but also asserts its own presence. I love it when these visual elements come together with luck. I doubt the tree was selected for visual balance.
