The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is an upscale shopping mall and part of the large Marina Bay Sands Hotel and Casino complex that I discussed yesterday. This structure curves along the bay and is located between the bay and the tall hotel behind this mall.
Years ago, on my first visit to Singapore, I was unsure and wary about taking photographs, especially indoors in a fancy place like this. In the United States, rent-a-cops usually hassle photographers for taking pictures in shopping malls. Singapore has a reputation for being a strict country. I cautiously took photos with my camera, and no one bothered me. I got even more daring and busted out a tripod, shooting multiple frames to create HDR images. Still, no one ever intervened. It seems that Singapore is more permissive when it comes to photography than the United States.
In 2023, I just shot hand-held with the Sony A7C, a compact full-frame camera. I probably could have shot with the Fujifilm GFX, but I didn’t want to tempt fate, just in case.
