I’ve hinted about my new social media presence for the last couple of days, and here it is. I’m now on Substack, which is a hybrid social media website and email-based newsletter system. The platform has become increasingly popular, and many noteworthy people have a presence there.
If you’ve followed this blog for a while, you might remember that I used to talk more about the gear. However, over the years, I’ve shifted the emphasis to the photography and the stories around it. Now that I’m retired, and presumably I have more time, I’ve started another platform to talk more about cameras and the stories around photography.
At the top of this blog, there is a tag line that says “For the Love of Photography + Stories + Gear”. And that has been my guiding light. I know non-photographers who visit my blog because I don’t yammer on about cameras.
The Substack is “Gear + Photography + Stories”.
I still feature photography and tell stories on my Substack, it just has a more gear-oriented take. There is a place for gear talk and how and why one might use a particular camera. I’ve owned and used enough cameras to know there are differences between them, and they influence how I shoot and the kind of images I make.
Please visit my Substack and take a look. I would also appreciate it if you would subscribe. Unlike this blog, I don’t post daily or on a regular schedule on Substack. I’ve been averaging one or two posts a week, at most. I started the site in May and have posted fewer than 30 articles. However, I’ve also posted from my trips in Japan and New York, so you get the latest stuff now on Substack.
This blog will continue in its current form with daily posts from my past travels and events. However, the blog doesn’t discuss the latest happenings at atmtx Central. For the latest news and events, you should subscribe to Substack or my monthly magazine.
Blog readers, you’ll love my free monthly photography magazine. Signup for the free magazine to get articles and topics not discussed on the blog.
