Interior, TECO Streetcar – Tampa, Florida

The interior of the TECO Streetcar is lovely and, in many ways, more impressive than the exterior, which I featured yesterday. It could be the large advertisement for the Tampa General Hospital on the front of the vehicle that detracts. The overall impression doesn’t look very vintage.

That’s not the case for the interior, as you can see. Made entirely of wood, the space exudes a vintage charm. The streetcar wasn’t very crowded, with only several people sitting behind me, which allowed for this clean, uncluttered photograph.

Looks could be deceiving, however. These TECO cars aren’t old, but are replica cars made about 25 years ago. They were modeled after the Birney cars used during the 1920s and built by the Gomaco Trolley Company of Ida Grove, Iowa. Could’ve fooled me.
