Family in a Red Car – Havana, Cuba

I snapped this picture of a car that we were passing. Unlike the architecture photos from afar, there is something more personal about this image.

I love how the father is driving with intent, with both hands on the wheel. I like the gesture of the daughter with her fingers behind her ear. I also see at least three more in the car. Is that her mother in the front seat and grandparents in the back? This is speculation on my part, but plausible. It’s the kind of image that invites stories.

The color came out a bit wonky, too, partially because it was shot out a window. But the overall effect is an old-timey picture, especially since the car was from the 1950s.
