One of the unexpected benefits of staying at this casa was the food, which included breakfast and dinner. We did lunch separately, which worked out well since we were out exploring in the middle of the day.
Here at the rooftop kitchen, the cooks are prepping for dinner. I quickly used the opportunity to shoot a portrait and document the food prep. The main course was white fish; I didn’t know the specific type. You can see they wrapped the three fish in aluminum foil in the last picture.
Another difference was the level of freshness. Everything was prepared from scratch, and nothing was packaged. Although Cuba is a developing country, I probably ate better-quality food than I do in the United States. However, I had the benefit of being a “rich” tourist with the resources to access foods that aren’t affordable to the general population.
