Being in the middle of the tropics, the weather in Cuba can change rapidly. We were having a delightful pizza lunch outside when it started to pour. We were luckily able to shift tables to one with an awning, but that wasn’t enough. With buckets of rain falling, we retreated inside, surrounded by the old-timey kitsch on display, and proceeded with our meal.
We had a long, relaxed lunch, and the weather delayed our planned photowalk. When the rains finally stopped, it was a mess outside. Lots of water but no wind damage.
The drainage wasn’t well-engineered, with copious standing water. I snapped this photo as the staff was clearing the streets, pushing the water towards the sewers. They were well-versed in this process.
