Obviously, when I talk about women with character, I’m not referring to moral character. That’s something that I can’t judge as I pass by and snap a picture. I’m referring to a visual character. And, what determines this?
Is the way someone looks or dresses based on culture, their individual personality, or even economic necessity? I don’t know. Maybe a bit of all three. Cuba is not an affluent country, so people may wear whatever they can obtain. On the other hand, I’m sure they have some level of choice and select a look they prefer.
I noticed that people in Cuba tend to wear brighter colors than in the United States. There also seems to be more individual style, and this picture is a great example. Coupled with the worn, colorful background, I found observing and documenting the Cuban people immensely interesting.
