Girl by the Red Door – Havana, Cuba

Often in street photography, you shoot quickly, sometimes from the hip, to capture the moment. It’s nice when you have a few extra seconds to properly compose a shot.

That was the case here when I saw this cute little girl by the red door. I actually made two exposures, but this was better. Maybe she was subconsciously striking a pose.

Like I often do for my urban landscapes and architecture, I perspective correct so that all the lines are straight. I did that here, though my original framing was pretty close. While the girl is dead center in the frame, it doesn’t look that way since the door is off-center and she is also off-center within the doorway. As a bonus, I noticed the red flower in her hair. Serendipitous color coordination.
