Street Soccer – Havana, Cuba

This wasn’t exactly street soccer, but close enough. These kids were playing in an open paved area next to a street. As you can see, it wasn’t a park or an official soccer field. But this is the nature of pay in a crowded city.

It reminds me of when I was a kid growing up in New York City. Though I lived in Queens, which is somewhat less crowded than Manhattan, wide open spaces were at a premium. We would kick the ball around or play whiffle ball right on the street.

We never thought that we were deprived of athletic facilities, partially because we didn’t know any better. I’m sure it’s the same for these kids. They are just having fun, without a care in the world. Kids will be kids, worldwide.
