Hemingway Corner, El Floridita – Havana, Cuba

I have one more from El Floridita before we move on. I’ve mentioned before how Ernest Hemingway was tied to this establishment; it was one of his favorite places in Havana. He loved this bar for its daiquiris, particularly the Papa Doble, his own special modification with double rum and no sugar.

Hemingway also sat in the exact location when he frequented the bar between the 1930s and 1950s. It’s called the Hemingway Corner.

While the bar has been around since 1817 and has been called El Floridita since 1914, the statue is a new addition. It was installed in 2003 and was made by Cuban sculptor José Villa Soberón. It’s located near the front windows. I took a snap as we left the bar.
