Hotline – Havana, Cuba

There’s something about a red phone that evokes the thoughts of a hotline. Did they have one in the White House to call the Soviet Union during the Cold War? Where would a hotline in Cuba connect to?

I noticed this phone in another room and loved it immediately for the striking, clean design. Was it from the 1970s? I don’t even recall if I had a phone in my room. If I did, it wasn’t red. I looked through my photos of my room and couldn’t find a phone, except for a possible beige one, mostly obscured by a welcome card.

Do people even use hotel phones anymore? It seems like an anachronism. But this red phone, that’s design gold.
