There were many reasons I wanted to go to Cuba. It seemed like a sufficiently exotic country that is not a typical tourist destination. As an urban landscape photographer, I was fascinated by the city and its almost-stuck-in-the-1950s look in Havana. Of course, there’s street photography. However, the group I was a part of, in addition to helping the Cuban people, also had a portrait photography component. The opportunity to photograph Cuban models certainly added another dimension.
I shot these in the morning of day 2 of our trip. The common area of the casa was turned into a staging area where models were being styled. It was a perfect opportunity for behind-the-scenes documentation.
I was using my secondary body, the Sony A7C, with the Tamron 17-28mm f2.8 lens, which worked well to capture the activity with a wide perspective. Three models were being styled, of which you can see two in this post. I’ll feature more in tomorrow’s post.
