I’ve shown you many areas in Havana, and it’s not unusual to see deteriorating conditions. This picture looks a bit shabbier than others; however, it’s also wonderfully character-filled. The lack of visual clutter, without many people or cars, shows off the neighborhood.
The comparably simple architecture makes for a blank canvas for layers of paint color and graffiti. The shiny old car and the single person balance the composition.
In the United States, a place like this will seem scary to visit. Not so in Havana. And while it doesn’t show anything exceptional, the buildings are harmonious with one another, forming a perfectly pleasant urban scene.
