Unexpected Jewels – Havana, Cuba

As you can tell from the coverage of Cuba, Havana is a character-filled city. Which is a nice way to say it’s falling apart and oozes patina. That’s what makes it fascinating for an urban landscape photographer. Too many pristine objects can get boring.

On the other hand, it can be astonishing. Block after block of worn buildings that are falling apart, and suddenly you discover an unexpected Jewel. A beautifully renovated establishment creates a shocking contrast.

I don’t know what this place is. I didn’t go inside. However, in this neighborhood, further away from the tourist destinations, it’s all the more unexpected.
