I don’t know if this is the nicest part of Havana, but it was the nicest I’ve seen during my walks. Parque Central, or Central Park, is bordered by two five-star hotels and two four-star hotels. On the left is the Gran Teatro de La Habana, which I’ve featured a couple of times.
The statue is of José Martí, a Cuban nationalist, poet, philosopher, and all-around Renaissance guy. He is considered a Cuban national hero for his role in liberating the country from Spanish rule.
The best restored classic cars are also parked along the perimeter. As you might have guessed, it’s a very touristy area, and just a block away from the Capitol.
