I mentioned yesterday that Parque Central was the nicest area I’d seen in Havana as I walked through the neighborhoods. Admittedly, I’ve only seen a fraction of Havana. In and around the square, and at the surrounding four and five-star hotels, were the most beautifully restored classic cars. These were the creme de la creme of Havana’s classic automobile scene, with good reason. This was a major tourist spot, and many of these cars were used as taxis, and people gave guided tours of the city.
I’ll start with the most interesting vehicle I saw, a Studebaker. I didn’t recognize the car, but zoomed in on the photograph and found the name. What a lovely design. It makes all the other cars look chunky.
There’s a nice collection of vehicles, and this is just a small sample. But it gives you a feel for the area. Keep that Studebaker in mind; it might reappear in a later post.
