After my rather modest first attempt at super-wide-angle portraits with Diamela yesterday, I offer an improvement with this portrait of Carmen.

We are in the same ornate museum, though at a smaller nearby staircase. There are a few refinements that make today’s portrait more effective. First, I’m closer to Carmen, and the scale of the architecture better suits the framing. She is no longer lost on a massive set of stairs.

With super-wide angles, keep the person in the middle to minimize distortion. I’ve done so here, but added draped clothing to introduce a dynamic element. The clothing is distorted by the wide-angle, but this doesn’t matter since we don’t know its original length relative to a person’s form. We easily recognize overly long limbs.
